Trainings on Horizon Europe, Pillar II, Health Cluster and Widening actions

On July 18-20, 2023, a three day proposal writing training took place at Best Western Hotel, Tbilisi. The trainings, that included two parallel working sessions on Horizon Europe, Pillar II, Health Cluster and Widening actions, were delivered by invited experts: Marco Liviantoni and Szonja Csuzdi. 


The trainings were participated by up to 50 representatives of various institutions in Tbilisi and regions of Georgia. The working process included the trainer’s presentations, Q&A sessions, discussions and practical exercises.


Widening actions working group covered following topics:

  • Why do we need Widening in Horizon Europe? - Introduction to the Widening actions  
  • Practical exercise: analysis of Widening calls 
  • Overview of the Widening toolbox with practical tips for proposal writing
  • How to develop a proposal?
  • Introduction to the evaluation criteria and the corresponding structure of the Application form
  • The application form: Section 1 – Excellence, Section 2 Impact, Section 3 – Quality and efficiency of the implementation 
  • How to plan the budget for a Twinning proposal


Widening actions training agenda


Working group on Horizon Europe, Pillar II, Health Cluster covered following topics:

  • Preliminary notions and concepts
  • Understanding a Call for proposal
  • Conceptualizing the project idea 
  • Proposal Writing workflow
  • Structure and logic of the application form
  • The application form: Section 1 – Excellence, Section 2 Impact, Section 3 – Quality and efficiency of the implementation 
  • Use of third parties (in-kind contributors, associated partners, affiliated entities, subcontractors, subgrantees)
  • Intelligence tools (Partner search in the Participant Portal, Cordis, Horizon Dashboard) 


Health cluster training agenda


The last day of the trainings was dedicated to personal consultations with the researchers already working on developing a proposal for Horizon Europe.
